Important Update for Back’nGrooveMom Readers!

I got to admit that the start of summer has ushered in a bit of writer’s block for me.  I was so excited over the reappearance of the sun and the promise of spending time outdoors that my brain was a bit distracted!  Then, this morning, while I was spinning away…..a rush of ideas came to me!

Mompreneur Lessons From Camping – For Real!

Happy Monday, Back’nGroovers! I know you are waiting for me to write about my past weekend in a cabin.  It is the obvious…..  Well, I am going to write about it a bit except in the unexpected way.  We had a great time – our family for 2 days in a cabin at the overnight camp where my boys attend.

Mompreneurs/Dadpreneurs – pour yourself some lemonade!

When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade (original quote by someone’s grandma?) ……

……An absolute favorite saying of mine.  I have always tried to apply these words to my life no matter whether it was something little or big.  When the boys were infants, and I had a LONG day that did not allow me to shower or eat a whole meal or make a phone call, I took pleasure in a hot bubble-bath after I got the boys to sleep.  When my grandmother died, I survived devastation when a few days later, I found out she would have a namesake when I discovered I was pregnant.  Today, I was really going back and forth with what I should write on the blog, AND then my day changed because my husband forgot to send my son to school with a lunch (on the last day of school).

Women Entrepreneurs – be honest and open!

A few months ago, I connected with a fun and exciting female inventor through my blog.  We have been working together a bit….bouncing ideas off one another and giving feedback.  This entrepreneur, Becky Lucid, has also been an amazing supporter of the blog, so I asked her to write-up some thoughts for a post.  When I received Becky’s entry, I was extremely flattered and a little embarrassed to run it (it was about ME), but I decided to share it with you.  Not as a big tribute to me, but rather as a spotlight on the difference one woman can make on another with just an open-mind and a helping hand.  I am so thankful for the collaboration that Becky and I share, and while she is not a “mom” in the traditional sense, she is a “daughter” with “mom” responsibilties….read on and you will see:

Moms, what is your work-style? revisited

Summer is here!  I hope that you all had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend.  Our weekend flew by — between swimming, eating ice cream, a family wedding, and pool party/cookout in West Virginia, I barely had time to breathe.  It was fun while it lasted, but I woke up this morning on Tuesday with a giant sense of urgency. You see – my boys only have FIVE more days of school and that means that I have a lot to do in FIVE days!

Summer is amazing, especially if you live somewhere in the east coast.

The sun shines, the air is warm, and we do not have to BUNDLE in huge winter coats.  Summer also creates chaos because school is out and if you have school-age kids, schedules drastically change.  As moms (and dads) we scramble to figure out what out kids will do during the summer months, so we can eek out a little work.

Business Plans & Having Babies

As the holiday weekend approaches and signs of summer start to pop up, it is a great time to reflect on business so far for the year.  At almost the half-way point through the year, it is an excellent time to re-evaluate goals and expectations.  As you know, I went from being a stay-at-home mom, volunteer, and basically the mastermind behind my house to launching two separate mompreneur driven projects.  I began with taking my idea and developing the Braducts…. this led to the beginnings of Back’nGrooveMom.  Both are very much in the early stages, but nonetheless, it is still great to re-evaluate at this point.

moms – what’s up with back ‘n the groove?

What is all this business with being back ‘n the groove anyway?  What does it all mean?  As women, as moms, & as spouses/partners, how do we define a space for us?  How do we know when that space is in our groove?  Sometimes, as moms, we spend too long in one space, and we need to find our groove in a new space – whatever that is…it is a new realm where we feel great…maybe even groovy.

Whether we work outside the home, inside the home, or stay-at-home, the life cycle is continually on the move for moms.  We are masters of multi-tasking and our skill-set is constantly being refined and updated NO matter what we do professionally or personally.  I remember a few years ago, over cupcakes and coffee, a good friend told me she was going back to work part-time.  It was the right time for her and she discovered her groove excellently!  I always admire how she makes it all happen….kids, husband, work, fitness, time for friends.  A constant reminder to me and all of us that life is fluid in nature, and with each phase, we redefine the groove.

what’s the deal with Twitter?

I cannot tell you how many times I hear “What is the deal with Twitter?”  Or, “I don’t get that Twitter thing.”  While Facebook profiles seem to be universal now, the world appears to be divided on Twitter.  People either get it or they don’t.  I love Twitter.  I did not always love Twitter, but now I really love, love Twitter.  So, what is the deal really with Twitter?

Little Pearls of Inventing Wisdom

What the hell is going with the Braduct, you are probably asking?  I have not written about the Braduct in a long while and this has been intentional – I have been in a regrouping phase of Research and Development.  Believe me, I did not want to deny any of you information or updates, I just needed time to regroup on the arduous path in front me.  You all know that I am extremely impatient and, therefore, set ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS timelines for myself.  After a bit of searching and examining what I was really trying to do, I am now able to proceed forward with the R&D phase.

Just to bring all of you up to speed…..last year, I had an inkling of an idea for a bra-related productI began the VERY LONG journey of nurturing this idea from the confines of my brain to the Women of America.  Along the way, my ten-year old son (who blushes endlessly when he hears the word bra) exclaimed that I was not working on a bra-related product but rather a BRADUCT.  The term Braduct was born after this, and although this is not the official product name, we now affectionately refer to the item as a Braduct.
